Josephine Sere and Sfumato

Sfumato crossed my mind as a mode of expression since light fades in the distance creating an atmospheric effect for the viewer.

I’ve had a season of migraines after college graduation, where light became barbed wire, strain from lightness and beauty as a day person became depressing, and vertigo was a kaleidoscope in my optimistic perspective.

On a migraine day, I was inspired to create an eyeshadow look because my face was too sensitive for a full face routine, but not so sensitive I would be bare.

Sfumato represented how I felt: strained, foggy, and confused, but set on a physical canvas.

As a visual artist, I internalize my emotions and thoughts since I don’t view other beings as lightning rods. My face and paper become my striking point.
